Why Did GYMZANA Create the Positive Gymnastics Journal
In the heart of every gymnast, there is more than just strength and flexibility. There’s courage. There’s vulnerability. There’s an entire world of emotions, self-belief, and inner battles that often go unseen behind the sparkle of the leotards and the perfect landings.
The Positive Gymnastics Journal was born from a simple, powerful question:
What if we trained the mind and heart as intentionally as we train the body in gymnastics?
A Personal Story - An Idea
As a former gymnast and lifelong lover of this sport, I’ve seen firsthand how much pressure athletes—especially young gymnasts—face. Pressure to win, to please their coaches, to be “perfect.”
But gymnastics isn't just about medals or scores. It’s about growth, joy, and self-discovery. And yet, mental health and emotional resilience are too often afterthoughts.
That had to change.
Mental Training Matters in Gymnastics
A gymnast might train up to 20+ hours a week, working on form, power, and technique. But what about the moments when…
-
They feel overwhelmed by school and training
-
They struggle with motivation after a bad competition
-
They compare their body to others in the gym
-
They doubt themselves before trying a new skill
-
They feel misunderstood or unheard
-
They do not see their long term progression
These aren’t just side issues—they shape the gymnast’s entire experience and mental health.
The Positive Gymnastics Journal was created as a toolbox for the mind, filled with affirmations, reflection prompts, and strategies rooted in Positive Psychology and sports mental preparation. It’s a space where gymnasts can build confidence, write down and process emotions, learn to set boundaries, and focus on what really matters: becoming their happiest, healthiest selves through gymnastics and not despite gymnastics.

A New Era in Gymnastics
The culture of gymnastics is evolving—and it should. We're starting to have more open conversations about well-being, coaching styles, mental health, and athlete empowerment. The Positive Gymnastics Journal is our way of contributing to that shift alongside our upcoming training tools such as the "Meditations & Positive Affirmations for Gymnastics Library" and courses...
It’s not just a journal.
It’s a safe space.
A trusted companion.
A celebration of the whole gymnast—not just the competitor.
For Gymnasts, Coaches, & Parents
We didn’t create this journal only for gymnasts. We created it for everyone who cares about their growth. Coaches can use it to support healthier, more open dialogue with their athletes. Parents can use it to better understand their child’s journey. It’s a tool to bring the human back into any kind of gymnastics performance.
We believe that mental training isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity in Gymnastics.
And it can be beautiful, empowering, and even fun.
Welcome to the Positive Gymnastics movement.
We’re just getting started.
With love and passion,
Agathe – Founder of GYMZANA & Creator of the Positive Gymnastics Journal
